Social Equity
Challenge
Future generations deserve the same opportunities to achieve economic, environmental, and social well-being as the current
generation. As the state's land grant university, the University of Arizona not only has a special obligation to provide a
quality education to all of our society and to share the fruits of our research through vigorous and effective outreach programs,
but to promote social equity and justice in the surrounding community and state.
Goals
- To provide a quality education to Arizona's rapidly growing population that equips our graduates with the knowledge
and skills to contribute to the state's economy and participate in our democracy.
- To offer outreach programs that will empower those seeking to improve the quality of their lives and participate in the
natural resource, environmental, and economic decisions that affect them and future generations.
- To encourage a heterogeneous campus community of students, faculty and staff that promotes equity and inclusiveness,
and values a broad diversity of thought, background, ethnicity, and perspective.
- To promote and model scientifically sound practices in the use and conservation of natural resources - land, air, water,
and biodiversity - to help ensure long-term social, economic, and environmental benefits for ourselves and future generations.
